I am in love with Matthias Henderich’s Color Berlin photo series — it was so hard to pick only these few to feature. Aren’t they lovely? Such great color and composition. Check out more of Matthias Henderich’s work on behance or flickr. via share some candy Hello! We’ve decided to start a new, recurring post on Mondays called “flickr Mondays. We’ll be posting about artists of all kinds that we find via flickr. We hope you all enjoy! This week’s feature is Kat Heyes…someone I’ve been gaga over for some time now. She is not only a wonderful photographer, but, also a really talented illustrator. Here are just a few shots I found on her flickr site that I’m in love with.
We are planning a trip and I really wanted a way to carry my camera other than throwing it into a purse. Before Christmas I saw the Kelly Moore bag on Uppercase and thought it looked like the perfect solution. I was going to post about it right away, but the bags were all pre-orders, and I wanted to see if they were as great in person as they looked on the site. Well my bag arrived and it is fantastic. I can’t wait to start using it. It looks like it is really well made and is big enough that I don’t think I’ll need to carry a separate purse on my trip. Plus, since is it way prettier than a normal camera bag, not everyone will know you have a camera with you. The bags come in some really great colors and she is working on a camera bag for men too, so soon there will be a stylish camera bag option for everyone. UPDATE: Enter the code BLOGLOVE for $50 off a Kelly Moore bag!
Hipstamatic is a little $1.99 app that we’ve had a lot of fun playing with over the holidays. It treats your iPhone pictures as you shoot them, applying filters and edge effects. Nothing we couldn’t do ourselves in Photoshop, but to have it happen semi-instantly is pretty rad and makes me feel way better about the iPhone’s dinky camera. The user interface is brilliantly analog retro, and there are alternate lens/film/flash pals at a small cost.
We’re really enjoying the “Screen Series” photos from New York photographer Matthew Tischler. By having the screens they are shot through be the object that is in focus, they make pixellations of the background scenes in a very analog way: the Tetris-y lines of raindrops, a scene that looks like a blowup of an 80s console game replete with faceless sprites, a blur that looks like low resolution television is really just focal length. I am reminded of the dreamlike qualities of closeups of television images in films like Until the End of the World, Blue Velvet, Videodrome or John Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness. And of course nothing says summer in the South (and thus nostalgia) like a screen door.
The first print above, with the rain, is available inexpensively through 20×200. via non blog

I guess I am a little late to the party — he’s been working on his fantastic Little People project since 2006 — but it is really awesome. I recommend looking in the archives of his blog so that you can see the evolution of the project.
