So, we went to Japan a year ago with our friends and RISD classmates Tim, John and Alex. Three graphic designers, an architect and a uh fashion designer/graphic designer/architect. For those of you who are one or more of these things, take it from me: Japan is so frickin’ awesome.
We went around taking pictures of everything because seriously everything was so rad. We shot manhole covers. We shot shrines that seemed more picturesque than possible. And being designers we took pictures of a lot of type. On this, our second installment of font-y Friday, we’d like to show you a few.

I know where I’m spending my next ninety nine cents. I’ll show pictures with funner text than this one once I’ve got it working. And I’ll be the one totally flashing messages at incoming and outgoing BART trains….
Oh, readership: do you have iphones/ipod touches? Is it cool for us to post about why you should, if you don’t?

March 12th, 2009 by owentroy Let me be the first to say all of the experts are happy as can be that Obama’s the man for America. He’s got a lot of good ideas, and one of the best is getting the populace involved in making the changes he got elected to make. We’re excited, and hopeful.
And I think his graphics were (and are) top notch. He had a logo that will probably be studied by designers decades from now. He had the saavy to get capital-P Propaganda’s biggest fan Shep Fairey to do his iconic poster; hard to imagine another politician being half as astute about the importance of these things. When he launches a neo-WPA poster program, we’re all over it.
I say all of this not because we plan to make politics a big focus here at the experts agree — we don’t, fonts and photos and funnies are funner — but as preamble to posting this parody poster because it’s hilarious, even after seeing hundreds of parodies.

Oh and we probably won’t do a lot of Transformers posts either…I think I was just feeling a little nervous about my first post as an expert.
